These commands allow you to perform functions that affect the entire system - for example choosing which database you wish to work with.
Depending on your Role and Permissions, your Home Page provides you access to different categories of information including:
You may set the default category, i.e. the category that appears first, using the File> Settings command.
This is a shortcut to open the Documents section of your Organizer.
This is a shortcut to open the Communications section of your Organizer.

This is a shortcut to open the Tasks section of your Organizer.
You may open up another Operator's Organizer assuming you are either an Administrator or have been granted the Security Permission - May View Other Operator's Organizers - to do so.
If you have not yet logged into MDsuite, you will first need to log in before you may select a database.
If you have already logged into MDsuite, then you can use File > Open to switch from one database to another - you do not need to use File > Close before switching databases.
You are required to enter the following three fields:
This is your operator name as it was defined for you by an operator having administrator privileges - the highest access rights within MDsuite.
Note: Operator Names are not case-sensitive.
This is the password that has been assigned to you.
Note: Passwords are case-sensitive.
This is the computer that shares, or serves, data and functionality for other computers on a network. When you visit a web page on the internet, your computer is the "Client," and the computer storing the web page is the "Server."
MDsuite is a Client/Server application - there are three "layers" of the program that work together to perform all tasks. These layers are:
These are the screens that each Client computer sees on their screen.
Contains all of the business rules to complete various tasks. Runs on one or more Application (App) Servers
.
This is where the actual data files reside. This too may reside on one or more Data Servers
.
Licensed
The server MDsuite is requesting is the application server you are using. In most offices there will be a single computer that serves as both the Data Server and the Application server, but for larger installations, these functions may be spread over multiple computers.
Hosted
When MDsuite is Hosted, the server you specify is a DSI application server. You will be provided with the IP address of the DSI server and your Client ID. These are entered as follows: [IP Address]@[Client ID], e.g. 152.168.100.66@PA23TG4
Note: MDsuite will remember the Application Server you select so that you only need to select it the first time or in the future if it should change.
When you have entered the above information, depress the Enter key to connect to the server.
If you receive a message indicating that your log in was denied, it usually means that you have entered either your name or password incorrectly. Try again; if the message repeats, consult with your system administrator for assistance.
If you are having other login problems, first try the MDsuite Login Wizard.
Once you have logged in you may choose which database you wish to work with. Note that you might have more than one database if you are doing the billing for more than one practice or provider and you wish to keep everything separate. You choose which set of files you wish to work with via this command.
For example: You have a set of files for Dr. Allan Jones (called AJONES) and another set for Dr. Susan Smith (called SSMITH). You wish to work with Dr. Smith's files: choose File - Open and select SSMITH.
MDsuite is licensed to each client with a certain number of concurrent logins allowed.
Example: If a client has purchased three concurrent user licenses, then up to three operators will be able to login at one time.
MDsuite remembers the fields on this screen from one usage to the next. If the fields appear correctly, simply press [Enter] to move to the MDsuite Main menu.
Closes the current database and terminates your connection to the server; you are no longer logged in.
Important: You are advised to perform this step whenever you are leaving your workstation unattended for any length of time. While your workstation is unattended anybody can use your access rights to make changes, deletions and/or additions that will be logged in under your name.
When you choose File > Open you will need to log in again.
Closes the current database, terminates your connection to the server and exits MDsuite. Use this command when you are done for the day.
Sends the Windows "Lock" command (Ctrl+ALT+DEL) to lock the workstation should you move away from it temporarily.
