Update Shortcuts to use Default Location

First of all, you should be aware of a few things:

  • By doing this, you may lose some of your saved default settings in the ledger and other screens. However, they'll just revert back to the default, and you can always re-save your preferences.
  • If you have any saved TimeSaver logs, then you might not be able to access them without moving some files around. If you need help doing this, then please contact your MDsuite support technician.

Follow these steps to update your shortcuts to point to the default location:

  1. Right-click on the MDsuite shortcut that you usually use to open the program. It will have a picture on it that looks like this: blue e for MDsuite
  2. Select Properties.
  3. Look in the Target field. Clear out whatever is there, and enter this (with the quotes):

    "C:\Program Files\DSI\MDsuite Workstation\DSClient.exe"

  4. Click OK.
  5. Repeat this process for any other shortcuts to MDsuite that you may have. (For example, on the Desktop, in the Start Menu, on the Quick Launch toolbar, and so on.)

Now, whenever you click on the shortcut to log into MDsuite, you will be running it from the default location. The automatic update installer will properly overwrite the workstation file with the newer version each time you upgrade, so you shouldn't have to do it repeatedly.
