Install Workstation to Non-Standard Location

Before you do this, you should be aware that you'll need to remember the install location each time you upgrade your MDsuite client. If you decide that it would be easier to just use the default and not have to remember or write down anything, then you can always use the default location instead.

Follow these steps to find out where you should install the MDsuite workstation:

  1. Find the shortcut that you use to launch MDsuite. It may be on your Start Menu, on the Desktop, or in the Quick Launch Toolbar. It has an icon like this: blue e for MDsuite
  2. Right-click on the shortcut. Select Properties.
  3. Make a note of what it says in the Target box. Write this down and keep it by your workstation so that you can have it handy whenever you need to upgrade the MDsuite workstation program.

Now that you know what the path to your MDsuite workstation is, I'll tell you how to install the upgrade on your computer so that it "sticks" and doesn't have to be done each time you log in.

  1. Log into MDsuite. You will get a message telling you that you need to upgrade and log in again. Click OK.
  2. The next screen to pop up says Location to Save Files. In the text box on this screen, enter the path that you wrote down, but don't add the "dsclient.exe" at the end.

That is, instead of C:\Some\Folder\Names\dsclient.exe, you would just write C:\Some\Folder\Names.

  3. Click Next.

Each time you get prompted to install a new version of the MDsuite workstation, you will have to change the installation directory so that it goes to your custom MDsuite workstation folder.
